Tony Groumoutis opened A&G steakhouse back in 1973. Born and raised in Greece, he left his beloved country after serving in the Greek army in search of a more prosperous life. With minimal English skills and even less money, he eventually found his way to Creston, Ia. It wasn't easy back in those days being the new guy from another country, especially in a small Midwestern town. But growing up impoverished in a tiny village in the mountains of Greece gave him the strength to face adversity. He had no choice but to succeed. Those who disliked him and judged him because he was 'different' couldn't help but to love him once they got to know him. Although Greece is where he was born, it is Creston, Ia that he calls home. His kids Dino, Tina and Alexi have spent many years working by his side at the restaurant, but it is Dino who has been his right hand man all these years. After 2 heart attacks and a heart transplant, Tony is still the face of a restaurant he opened nearly 40 years ago.
