소토보체가 직접 로스팅한 에스프레쏘 블렌드와 여러 산지의 드립용 원두를 판매 및 사용합니다. 드립커피는 융필터를 사용하여 내리고 있습니다.

소토보체sotto voce는 이탈리아어로 “낮은 소리로”라는 뜻입니다. 서양 고전 음악에서 이 말은 악상 기호로 쓰이기도 하는데 이 표시가 있는 부분은 조용하고 은은하게 연주되면서 오히려 특별해집니다. 뜻깊은 말은 꼭 큰 목소리로 해야 하는 것은 아니겠지요.

가게 이름에 알맞게 소토보체의 2층은 대화가 없는 공간으로 운영됩니다. 프리랜서 분들께서, 특히 글빚에 허덕이는 작가나 번역가 분들이 “카페 같은” 분위기에서, 그러나 조용한 분위기에서 작업하실 수 있도록 조성했습니다. 대화는 1층에서만 해주시고 2층에서는 휴대폰 사용도 삼가주세요.

1층에서도 2층 작업자들을 배려해주시기 바랍니다.

In Italian, sotto voce means “in a low voice.” Nestled in a quiet neighborhood in Gwacheon right outside Seoul, sotto voce hopes to provide a quiet, subdued atmosphere where you can take a moment to taste your coffee and maybe get some work done. The second floor is a small work studio for any freelance writers or translators who love working at cafes, but hate to be bothered by incessant chatterboxes sitting at the next table. We ask those using the second floor to move to the first floor for talking softly or using the cell phone.

We roast our own espresso blend and specialty beans from various regions. Come try sotto voce's very own nel drip coffee.
