Husband-and-wife team Chef Peter Tompkins and Jennie Wilson will be taking over the space as 11th Mile. Peter served as Head Chef at Quince Bistro and Noorden, and consulted on the opening of Little Sister. Little Sister was shortlisted for Enrouteās Best New Restaurant (2015), and named in The Globe and Mailās Top Ten Best New Restaurants In Toronto (2014). Noorden hit #6 on Toronto Lifeās Best New Restaurant List (2017), and was shortlisted for Enrouteās Best New Restaurant (2017). Peter and Jennie are eager to return to their home province for this next endeavour. You can find them on Facebook or Instagram at 11thmile.yfc.
Why 11th mile? it's been a long-standing joke at our house- a reference to the Scott Expedition. It's a terrific story, but it also serves as a metaphor for hospitality (or any job really): do a job correctly until it's done, or your previous efforts don't matter. In other words, don't leave them waiting for the check.
