Property was purchased on March 5, 2008 from Jimmy Laake Sr. by Travis and Katrina Saucedo Miertschin.
With an existing 40+year-old building in need of cleanup, repairs, and up to date furnishings, we had to move fast. With the help of family, and friends we began our mission.
Previously known as Shorty’s, Marsha’s Place, and Winchester Inn, the local gathering place, now had new owners and “WINCHESTER STORE” as a new name, and a new "WINCHESTER STORE" metal sign. The sign displayed on store front was given to the store by close friends, in support of our new business.
New “lifetime” steel barstools designed and built by Katrina’s nephew, Rudy Saucedo Iron Works, in Kyle, Texas, found new homes at the bar. Two new stainless steel beer coolers were brought in to replace the 40+year old ones.
Winchester Store opened it doors for business on April 2, 2008. Our goal was simple, “a laid back, family friendly, watering hole” for our customers to gather and socialize on any day of the week.
A kitchen equipped to comply with health department rules and regulations was built in the northwest corner of the store. On August 18, 2008 the store grill officially opened.
Winchester Store owners, Travis and Katrina Miertschin believe that they offer a unique atmosphere that definitely fits the Winchester culture, and lives up to the “KEEPING COUNTRY LIFE SIMPLE”. In Winchester we are all family. The Miertschin's strive to maintain their local reputation and increase their efforts at supporting and giving back to the local community.
This business is family owned and operated. Winchester Store offers a family friendly atmosphere, and kids are ALWAYS welcome. Your favorite cold beverage, pool tables, domino tables, two large flat screen TV's, including a state of the art juke box are available for your enjoyment. The store is open 7 days a week from 2:30 till?? The Store Grill offers burgers, french fries and sweet potato fries. Grill opens on Thursdays, Fridays, & Saturdays 6:00 PM till 8:00 PM. "Dine In" Breakfast is served every 1st and 2nd Saturday of the month from 6:30 A.M. till 11:00 AM. Bring your own coffee cup and coffee is on us!!!...... Summer sausage, cheese, by the pound, and Pizza's are available at any time.
