The Staircase Restaurant opened in 1993 by Sisi and Man Short with daughter Avera Hunter. Mann and Sisi has been in the Food and Entertainment Industry in the Cook Islands for a while,
with Mann being a much sought after Entertainer in his own right and of course Avera Hunter winning the Female top Dancer of the Year.
They started the Staircase as a a-la-carte-menu type of restaurant and at the same time a very avid supporter and sponsor of the Ngatangiia Sea Eagles Rugby league team.
They also contribute into the community by staging fundraising activities for local sports and community clubs on the island.
The venue now hosts an across the board type of events right thru the year, a mix of local and overseas artists, and of course the most popular, Raro Idol, Karaoke Competition,
the Ukalele or String Band Competitions, an events calendar stretching right thru the year.
Now every Thursday nite is an island nite with one of the top Cultural Groups in the Cook Islands, the Korero Maori Dance Group which has toured extensively around the world.
Their main dishes are exquisitely Cook Island oriented and of course the world famous Mushroom Steak. They have a world class kitchen and also available for catering work as well.
