L'Eléphant Restaurant is located in the heart of the historic peninsula of Luang Prabang, between the Mekong and the Nam Khan river. Luang Prabang, the former Lao royal capital, is a UNESCO listed World Heritage site.
From the home-made charcuterie to the duck breast roasted with “Mak Toum” or the Burgundy snails, L'Eléphant offers you original French family style cuisine. A cuisine revisits the classics like; lamb shank perfumed with Indochina cardammon, tarte Tatin with exotic fruits…
Fresh herbs from our organic garden (coriander, mint, ginger, lemon grass…..), coconut milk, Luang Prabang mushrooms, fish from the Mekong, buffalo are the essential ingredients of Lao cuisine. L'Eléphant restaurant cooks typical Lao dishes for you; dried meats and river weed as an aperitif, soups, grills or fish wrapped in banana leaves
The vegetables and fresh herbs that we use come directly from our gardens which are located 30 minutes from Luang Prabang. Our plantings are seasonal and we use neither pesticides nor fertilisers. Our aim above all is to obtain fresh high quality ingredients which are indispensable to tasty cooking, but we also want to offer our clients healthy products which come from the almost totally intact natural Lao environment.
