ABOUT CHEF & OWNER, RIMA BARKETT
Rima BarkettRima Barkett grew up in Tuscany, Italy in a large loving family that emigrated from Syria in the 1960s. In her mother's kitchen she learned the love of feeding people and sharing her amazing talent for cooking delicious, simple meals that easily brings people together. Rima brought those traditions with her to the United States in 1993. She realized the American dream when she opened her own restaurant in downtown Stockton, in 2002.
In 2006, she sold the restaurant and moved with her husband and daughter to Rome to spend a few years working on the World Summit of Nobel Peace Laureates. It was while listening to the wise words of the Nobel Peace Laureates that Rima realized her real life passion. Since then, her drive has been looking for ways to help less fortunate people. From teaching foster kids basic cooking to traveling the world looking for the poorest of the poor who want to be helped.
In 2009 Rima co-published a family Italian cookbook, "Cooking Dinner" Simple Italian Family Recipes Everyone Can Make, with the intention of trying to restore the eating and cooking as a family tradition in American families.
