Yamachan is a social after-work drinking place serve a variety of delicious food and is very well known for its mouthwatering signature chicken wings.
Who would have thought that piles of discarded chicken wings would be of any good, let alone sold as a signature dish that would later be the talk of the town? Well, that is exactly how the story started for Yamachan izakaya restaurant and its remarkable chicken wings that we know of today.
The brilliant idea of turning the least fleshy part of the chicken, its wings, into one of the best-selling items today was rather casually thought of in a restaurant all the way back in 1965. As if very economical by nature, Mr. Yamachan's productive imagination bore fruit when the newly mouthwatering dish finally made its way to the restaurant menu.
Slightly less than two decades later, on 14 June 1981 to be exact, Yamachan's tenacity and years of hard work finally paid off and the 13-seat stall he called his own was a solid testament to the sweat and blood he poured into his business. Although merely measuring at 13 square meters, the tiny stall in Shinsake was the first of many izakaya restaurants that would be birthed not only in Nagoya but also its neighboring cities and beyond.
