A native of Matera, Italy, Silvio DiGennaro was a graduate chef before the age of 18. He prepared fine food for upscale restaurants in Italy for nearly a decade before venturing to the United States. While stopping in Houston, Texas, for what he thought would be merely a brief interlude during his American vacation, DiGennaro instead found a new home.
