The Hill House Inn is a family run Pub, Restaurant, Coffee Shop, Carvery and Micro-brewery in the idyllic North Norfolk village of Happisburgh.
History of The Hill House.
Although the building itself has been pulled apart, extended and generally changed over the years it is believed to date back to about 1550 and it is recorded to have been a pub since 1610. The Hill House most memorable moment came in 1905 when Sir Arthur Conan Doyle wrote on of his Sherlock Holmes stories whilst taking a sabbatical here, the story involves a series of coded messages in the form of stick men and legend has it the idea arose from the son of the landlord and landlady at The Hill House who had created a code in which he communicated with his parents through stick men illustrations in the visitors book. The current owners Clive and Sue Stockton have been at the helm since 1992 and offer even the most weary traveler good food, good beer and a warm welcome.

The Hill House can offer a number of options for those wishing to stay here, from budget rooms available in the main building to our converted signal box and coach house which are accessed from our enclosed courtyard.
The budget rooms have a number of configurations from basic double rooms to family rooms depending on your requirements. Tariffs are available from £15 per person per night including breakfast.
The coach house is a luxury double room with the advantage of disabled access and a wheelchair friendly wet room style shower. Tariffs are available from £30 per person per night including breakfast.
The Signal Box is a converted railway signal box with 21 feet of windows overlooking the sea; facilities can stretch to a double and a single and offer an en suite bathroom with a bath rather than a shower. Tariffs are available from £30 per person per night including breakfast.
