Caribbean themes are abound at Jify’s, a bold and refreshing restaurant in Brooklyn’s Williamsburg neighborhood. Nestled between Berry and Wythe along North 6th Street, Jify’s is the eponymous venture of restaurateur and music industry veteran, Jify Shah.
Dimly lit, Jify’s offers a welcoming and intimate dining experience. Warm colors, dark wood features and tropical accents set the tone in soft light as record sleeves line the shelves and lush plants adorn the space. Overhead, freshly curated playlists inspired by the new sounds of Brooklyn and beyond enliven the space.
Inspired by his Caribbean roots, the Curacao-native incorporates a range of Caribbean-style ingredients such as coconut, plantains, mango, pineapple and avocado into each dish. Must-try items include savory mango guacamole; kale salad w/ pineapple vinaigrette; and Jify’s hearty namesake jerk marinated grass-fed beef burger served with polenta fries. Brunch options include Caribbean breakfast (jerk scramble, avocado, tomato, tostones, mango chipotle sauce); breakfast bowl (creamy polenta topped with sauteed kale, fried egg and green chili sauce); and pancakes with pineapple-lemon compote.
Meanwhile, a selection of specialty cocktails complement the flavorful menu. Their names, such as “Losing My Edge,” “Beam Me Up” and “Forget,” pay homage to songs by bands that played a role in Brooklyn’s music scene.
