It is one thing to talk green but it is another to build a successful business on the basis of sustainability, to a point where it becomes sought by investors. The cardboard we use for our wine carton is fully recovered from a mix of industrial pulp waste and NZ curb-side recycling. The ink on the carton is environmentally friendly to the point that it would have no adverse effects should it reach any water ways. Our bottles are the lightest the New Zealand industry can produce, with 80% of each bottle coming from NZ recycled glass. We think of our compost as we think of our own bodies, in that we only consume products on the premises that are good for its health. From the soap we use in the bathrooms that is transferred onto the handtowels, to the paper that is shredded in the office, along with the grape skins and green material that all make their way to the compost heap, we are conscious of the fact that you are what you eat. We are proud that the majority of our staff have been with the company for more than 12 years, some since day one. For Carrick the word sustainable has more meaning than a wine descriptor.
