YOU & I - Arts Cafe - a Learning Space to Inspire & Empower Youth

In today’s generation, there are a lot of hangout spaces for young people like coffee shops, theater halls, parks, lakes, food joints etc. where young people can go and spent time with friends for leisure or work purpose.

Cafes are considered to be good venues to conduct office meetings and for friends to meet. The YOU & I – Arts Café is an initiative started by Mr. Wanphai Nongrum. It is a not for profit café which will run on a sustainability model. The café will be open from Monday – Saturday from 11.00 am – 07.00 pm.

The cafe serve 60 more flavoured teas (Rosella Tea is the Cafe's Special). Only veg-sandwiches and Pukhlein, Pumaloi (Khasi snacks) serve along with the tea. Visitors are allow to bring outside food too.

The café will serve as a centre for information exchange, communication and social interaction. The café will provide resource persons or facilitators to talk, read, write, entertain one another or pass the time whether individually or in small groups. Young people can engage in conversation with their own groups or with facilitators.

The café will be a place where individuals will be able to participate in a variety of games and session which will focus on understanding and discovering and learning about one self. The café will be a space for individuals to learn to reflect through card reading and keeping journals.

The café is also a space to learn different Art forms such as papier mache, sketching and making puppets. It will be a space for creation of different communication tools and methods as well. Sessions planned will be informed to everyone through social media like facebook.
