Richmond Golf Club is believed to be the oldest golf course on its original site in Australia.
The first game of golf was played in Richmond in October 1897 on a course in Hawkesbury Agricultural College paddocks.
The players were CT Musson, Rev I Fergusson, WE Street, WJ Neilly, WH Ponsonby, WC Cameron and WC Icely. A meeting was held at the School of Arts in Richmond on Wednesday March 15 1899 at 4pm for the purpose of forming a golf club whereby establishing rules, fees, officers property etc
