The name O’Callahan's comes from Dan’s mother’s side of the family. Darby Callahan, who was Dan’s great, great, great, great grandfather was born in Cork, Ireland in 1717. He came to America as a young boy and settled with relatives in Halifax, VA. He had left Ireland due to the starvation conditions during the great potato famine to find a better life.
