L'Auberge de la Mer


In Batroun, the Mediterranean Sea, a Phoenician wall, thousands of years of history, an old fishing port and a small boutique hotel "L’Auberge de la Mer ". Built in the 19th century, in the shadow of two historic churches, it is located in the ancient city separating the old souks from the Phoenician port.
Batroun is located 50 km north of Beirut and is characterized by:
• The clearest waters of the Lebanese coast
• Its marine and nautical activities
• The Phoenician wall
• Its many archaeological sites
• Its historic religious sites
• Its Wine route
This city would be the daughter of Tyre according to the "Letters of Tell el-Amarna" by priest Ito-Baal, dating back to the XIVth century BC. It was built at the initiative of the King of Tyre in the IIIrd millennium BC. It took different names over the centuries: Beit Truna (chief's house) during the Canaanite period; Botrys at the time of the Greeks, Romans and Byrauthiens; Boutron at the time of the Crusaders; and will finally be baptized Batroun by the Arabs.
