The Woodward Family has owned and operated the Boat Inn since 1877 when it formed part of the Duke of Grafton's 'Wakefield' estate. In those early days, the inn was run in conjunction with the family's other businesses - the local butchery, bakery, smallholding and working narrowboats. In 1921, the inn was offered for sale at auction and was purchased from the estate for the grand sum of £1000. The Boat Inn is now being run by the fourth generation of Woodwards, with a good possibility of the 'dynasty' continuing well into the 21st century. The Cromwell Cottage, Kislingbury

1 High Street, Kislingbury,, Northampton, United Kingdom     Pub, British Restaurant

Before word got around, The Cromwell Cottage was one of Kislingbury's best-kept secrets. Our cosy pub & restaurant serves well-kept cask ales, quaffable wines and tasty, unpretentious pub-food lovingly prepared by our chef Darren. Our beautifully restored pub, once known as 'the restaurant over the bridge', has played host to various shenanigans over the years, most notably when Oliver Cromwell used it as a hideout from those longhaired Cavaliers. We like to think it's seeing its best days now, especially since we built an extension so we could fit you all in.
