The B.O.B.—an acronym for Big Old Building—was originally built in 1903 as Judson’s Grocery Warehouse. It stood vacant for decades until The Gilmore Collection purchased the building in 1997, ultimately saving this Grand Rapids gem from demolition. The 70,000-square-foot, four-story, red brick building is now a downtown icon housing several acclaimed restaurants, a comedy club that attracts national talent, the oldest microbrewery in the city, a live music venue, a popular nightclub, and a variety of different banquet facilities.

Originally opened in early 2005, the company was named for both the location and for the feel of pre-prohibition era local brewery. Taken over in early 2012 by new owners Scott Colson and Nick and Theresa Humphrey, the Hideout’s footprint has grown quite extensively.
