Our name comes from a surfing term, rhino chaser: someone out to find the best waves, the biggest waves – an adventurer.
Lost Rhinoʼs founders, Matt Hagerman and Favio Garcia, set out on an adventure of their own: a coast-to-coast journey in search of discovering the greatest traditions and the wildest frontiers of beer brewing. Our beers are inspired by the experience of choosing the scenic route, the tough challenge, the road less traveled. Nick’s first opened its doors in March 2007 with owners, Nick Samiotis and his daughter, Eviania Davey, who are no strangers to the restaurant industry. Nick has been a restauranteur for over 35 years, owning and operating multiple restaurants throughout the Northern Virginia region. Eviania grew up in the family restaurants, understanding the business from the bottom up. About Our Name:
When Juan Carlos was a young boy his family lived on the same street as his Grandparents. Only three or four at the time, he would stand at the front door and watch his Abuelo (Grandfather) walk about outside. His Grandfather’s name was Isnardo, and when Juan Carlos tried to say Papi Isnardo, it came out “parrando.” The family thought this was cute and he became “Parrando,” a nickname that remains today.
When choosing a name for his restaurant, there was never another option. Juan Carlos chose Parrando’s as a reminder of where he came from and what is important...
