Butcher, Dave Miller, bought the business in 1995 from Werner Wohlert, a German sausage maker. Wohlert had purchased Swanson’s in 1972 and moved it from Westport to its current location in Mission, and changed the name to Werner’s. Swanson’s was founded way back in 1898, the year before Westport was officially annexed into Kansas City. Our sausages still use the same recipes that Swanson’s used back before the turn of the 20th century. Needless to say, we’ve been around for a long time!
We offer hand made authentic German sausages. There are no GMO's or preservatives. It's simply quality meat made by our talented in-house sausage makers, not machines. Jokingly, we claim that our sausages are the original protein bar!
