The Lodge on Hawthorn - Blackall

Home to Western Queensland's only tea room and antique shop, The Lodge on Hawthorn is one of the region’s Queensland's best kept secrets.

The heritage listed building and its original contents are steeped in the history of the region, having operated from 1908-2016 as the Blackall Masonic Temple.

The Lodge on Hawthorn has something for everyone, whether it be an interest in the history of Western Queensland or the history of Freemasonry; an eye for the finer things in life (quality art and antiques); or simply an appreciation of good food and a good cup of tea.

The owners intend that once operational there will be a Freemasonry Museum created in the 'Temple Room' on the upper floor. Tours of the building and its collection will be conducted by a local grazier who is a descendant of James McKenzie, the first candidate initiated as a Freemason in Blackall in 1887.
