D.F. Stauffer Biscuit Co. is the original animal cracker company, originating in York, PA in 1871. Meiji America Inc. is the parent company of Stauffer’s.

Stauffer’s roots are still in York, Pennsylvania where the first animal crackers were produced in 1871. Two additional bakeries are located in Cuba, New York and Santa Ana, California.
