In 1956, a tiny widow from Ohio named
Rose Naftalin moved to Portland and opened a small restaurant on NW 23rd Ave. She spent many years preparing the entrees and desserts herself.
Soon her authentic New York style deli fare, Reubens, Matzo Ball Soup, desserts, specialty cakes and The Rose’s Original
Giant Cinnamon Roll
attracted many locals and out-of-towners.
Rose was well known as a great chef and cookbook author. She gained recognition across the nation as "Grandma Rose".
This Rose’s Restaurant and Bakery in Sherwood, Oregon has been opened since 2003 and continues to prepare some of her amazing recipes and takes pride in carrying out some of her traditions.
A visit to Rose’s is about great food and making memories. Enjoy!
