Applications are reviewed by the Board of Directors for admission of new members. Office hours are Thursdays: 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm.

Membership provides the following and more:
-Club ownership. Members own and operate the Club.
-Quarterly newsletter containing Club information, events schedule, community news, etc.;
-Access to the facility comprised of a bar/café with inexpensive prices and expanded sports programming packages, restaurant, library and banquet hall available for rent;
-Access as well as discounted prices or free admission to year-round events;
-Participation in the Rancho Folclórico (Portuguese Cultural Dance Group);
-Participation in the Soccer Teams;
-Participation in various other organized activities, tournaments and groups;
-Christmas party for members and families;
-College scholarship awards;
-Administrative, voting and ownership rights to the Club with quarterly General Assembly meetings;
-Opportunity to assume leadership roles;
-Camaraderie and financial support to the Club, its activities, its facilities, as well as the Club's purpose of supporting the Portuguese-American Community.

The Portuguese Club of Hartford, Inc. was founded in Hartford, Connecticut in 1927 and is a non-profit Cultural, Social & Recreational Entity serving the Portuguese Community of Greater Hartford.

After the initial idea for a Club surfaced, the concept was realized with the support of contributions from its founding members, election of its first Board of Directors, and adoption of its original bylaws. The inauguration of its first headquarters facility occurred in the summer of 1927. The Club's current headquarters facility has been located in the Town of Newington since 1971.

The Club's purpose is to support the Portuguese-American community by maintaining and preserving the language, culture and customs of Portugal and, by extension, the Lusosphere.

The Club is comprised of members who support, participate in, oversee and manage the activities, assets, and operations of the organization in fulfillment of the purpose of the Club.

Membership is open to all who demonstrate a desire to support and take part in the advancement of the Club and its purpose.
