The Landmark is a favorite spot for a snack or intimate dining. The Landmark Cafe and Creperie is housed in a building which has been designated a landmark site by the City of Galesburg Landmark Commission. Located in the downtown district, it is the first commercial building in Galesburg to be awarded this distinction. The structure is recognized as an example of the architectural style and construction displayed in commercial buildings at the turn of the century, displaying typical features of the period such as the arched windows of the upper story and the original pressed tin ceiling on the main floor. Over the years the building has housed, among others, a cigar factory, a pawn shop, an appliance store, an electric repair business, a printer, a clothing store, a tobacco shop and a book store. In 1976 the building was partially gutted by fire and subsequently restored, with an effort made to salvage many of the original components of the building as possible. In July of 1994, a fire occurred, causing a temporary interruption of business at the Landmark. Once again the original character was restored and the Landmark reopened in the fall of 1994.
Seminary Street's old-world feel adds to the Landmark's cozy atmosphere. The choice of dining indoors or on the patio is a nice touch.
