Ginelli’s, a restaurant with a track record for quality and excellent service, has embarked on a ‘food journey’ in search of a new world of culinary adventure.
No path was left unexplored as they ventured into the unknown, experimenting with new mixtures and allowing intrigued clients to test and taste from a temporary menu before the move. Only the best was to be added to the mix that would eventually become the beautiful, classic, yet contemporary new restaurant. A restaurant that is unique and daringly distinctive. Yet the familiarity of the Ginelli’s that we all knew is still to be found with wooden finishes, a burning fireplace, friendly staff and the best steaks in town.
The wine selection has been modernized and is now a recognized Diners Club Awards wine list, identifying Ginelli’s as a restaurant that takes great care and pride in their wine list . The new list introduces an array of wines which boast with exclusive wineries like Glen Carlou and Gabrielskloof, suitable for any meal or occasion. The latest additions to the Ginelli’s wine list can be sampled at the Winery of the Week, where guests can taste the selection and choose their new favorites. In the Bin Ends wine connoisseurs can always expect to find something new.
Guests can still select their preferred cut of meat in the Grill House, ensuring their satisfaction. Here succulent, fragrant rumps, fillets or sirloin are displayed, the choice is yours.
The institution of the Ginelli’s pizza is continued in the balmy Pizzeria. The old favorites can still be enjoyed here, yet the foodies can indulge in a taste sensation with modern-taste pizzas like the Transkei Pizza or the Klein Karoo Pizza, both of these pizzas winning awards in the Global Pizza Challenge.
The charming concept of the Chefs Table is available on pre-booking. The Chefs Table will always have something interesting available for the adventurous. This will be the place where mains, desserts and shared dishes can be tested and enjoyed. The Chefs Table is the share table where guests can experience and experiment to their hearts desire. There is really nothing like an interesting meal shared while engaging in conversation.
When sitting on the Stoep, why not treat yourself to a snippet of the ocean with a Mozambican Mussel Pot or a flash of the Cape with a Cape Cheese Plate? The delicious cheese plates are finished with fresh herbs from their own patch and are best paired with a glass of white wine. What about drinking up sophistication in the lounge? Round off any meal with a homemade dessert. Every aspect is a treat and an event in it’s own.
In their quest to continuously offer their clientele new and exciting culinary treats, they have dreamed up an array of tasting events, so keep a look out in the local media for information on these. The following experiences are being planned: Beer & Wine Tastings, Coffee Evenings with an experienced Barista, Cocktail Evenings as well as refined whisky and brandy nights for the daring and bold at heart.
Enthusiasts of the old Ginelli’s business lunches and lunch specials will be impressed with the Castle Heritage Beer Garden. Here business folk can meet casually and enjoy meaty lunch platters, paired with a draught while appreciating this private setting with staff, colleagues or clients. In celebration of this, SAB and Castle has sponsored 150 litres of Castle Draught, so visit the Heritage Beer Garden and receive a free draught with your meal.
Ginelli’s still manages to create a masterful visual impact through artfully styling the food on your plate, firing up appetites even further. The ingredients are fresh and full of flavour, their quest for the best clearly showing its rewards. Vegetables are freshly purchased from only the best suppliers at the market daily. Each meal is individually prepared with care and is plated in what can only be defined as culinary art.
The atmosphere is warm and inviting with an abundance of red and wooden touches. You find romantically dimmed or upbeat corners, providing the perfect mood for any occasion. The service has never faltered and is still thorough, efficient and friendly. The kitchen, headed by Chef Pieter Malan, is geared to serve perfect meals, and please all tastes.
