Even Stevens is a sandwich shop with a cause. For every sandwich we sell, we donate one to our local non-profit partners The Idaho Food Bank, St.Vincent De Paul Boise, Boise Rescue Misson, and Corpus Christi House.
One day in Downtown Boise, a man with a sharpie started drawing on the backdoor of a little diner called Moon’s Kitchen. When the owners of Moon’s Kitchen caught him, they looked over at his handy work, and told him to keep going.
The rest is history unfolding at Freak Alley, an outdoor street art gallery now run as a non-profit founded by that dude with a sharpie, Colby Akers. The 30-foot brick walls and back alleyways create an inclusive gallery space for artists of all skill levels to make their mark.
The backdoor of Moon’s Kitchen is now the backdoor of our sandwich shop, but it will forever bear the original signage. A roomy patio stretches out into the alley, and makes the perfect spot for a sandwich, a cold beer, and a good view of live art taking place at any of the gallery’s numerous annual events.
