Capricorn Resort Golf

Built on pure sand belt, this 18 hole layout allows the golfer to experience a very beautiful
and challenging course. Both courses at Capricorn Resort Golf are of international standard and they effectively cater for a wide range of golfing play. Most rounds are played to a gallery of birds (kookaburras, brolgas, ducks, black cockatoos) and kangaroos. You can be assured an afternoon sea breeze will greet you on the more exposed holes. The course has differing characteristics and both are a pleasure to play.

CHAMPIONSHIP COURSE

Designed by Karl Litten this course opened in 1992 and is carved out of melaleuca swamps and bushland.

Karl Litten is rated as one of the top ten designers in the world. He considers the Capricorn Resort Yeppoon Championship Course a gem, β€œIt really has to be one of the top 5 world class courses I have ever designed and I have now designed more than 100 over a period of about
25 years. I rank it with my course in Dubai in the Middle East, the first ever desert golf course there, 2 in Florida and 1 in Japan.”

The first 9 is played through melaleuca bushland with plenty of nature walks for the wayward shot. The back 9 is the watery 9, built over, around and along all shapes and sizes of water hazards.

Par is 72 over a distance of 7,154 yards from the blue tees. Four of the holes are par 5,
with the 15th hole boasting no less than 15 sand traps over a distance of 519 yards as it curves around a water course.

RESORT COURSE

This course is a classic Thomson-Wolveridge course – a par 72 course, measuring 6,790 yards from the blue tees.

In superb condition this testing but fair course has wide forgiving fairways and there is no
over abundance of water. With 39 sand bunkers the course cuts through Australian melaleuca bushland using the natural undulations of the area to advantage.

One of the most challenging holes is the par 3 5th hole, 222 yards off the blue tees. Difficult for both slicers and hookers with a stand of mature trees, deep bunkers bordering the left of the hole and a deep sand bunker to the right of the green.
