"The Buffalo Mercantile Co." circa 1897 - known as "Todd's Place" and "Todd's Country Store" (rebuilt in 1924 on the grounds of, and with the original materials of, The Buffalo Mercantile Co)
The new owner, Tom Kassab, would visit this store during his 20 plus years visiting his cabin in the area. Tom was deflated to see the store closed. He had taken his kids there each year, chatted with the family and felt it part of his mountain home & family.
Tom has roots in both Michigan, Florida, South Carolina, and right here in the mountains of North Carolina... a businessman by trade he has worked and owned a restaurant equipment and a furniture manufacturing company and currently is a military contractor to the United States Government.
The Buffalo Mercantile Company and Cafe offers General Store Merchandise, Coffee Shop, Candy Store, Ice Cream Parlor, Cafe with outdoor seating/entertaining along the rushing creek complete with large fire-pit. Our Restaurant is Ranked #1 On TripAdvisor!

We start with fresh flour, fresh yeast, Extra virgin olive oil and other fresh ingredients to make our dough in our large Hobart floor mixer. We make all of the pizza sauce FRESH along with shredding our own Mozzarella Cheese, fresh pepperoni. All of our mushrooms and veggies are fresh sliced daily. All of our deli meets are also sliced fresh daily.
Every pot of coffee starts with fresh ground beans. Our premium coffees are ground fresh by the cup!
Our vanilla and chocolate ice creams feature 15% butter fat to provide a rich and creamy taste especially when they are topped off with Sanders Hot Fudge topping brought in from Michigan. We also now serve rich and Creamy soft serve along with our "Buffalo Mixers"
