This is the story! April of 2014 the "Southern Comfort Lounge" owned by Linda L. was sold to Bill and Lynn. June of 2014, Lynn sold her part and Bill became partners with Beth and Antonio. Unaware of the procedures for transferring ownership of a business when 1st bought in April 2014 the permits and/or licenses were not transferred and/or applied for. So at the end of 2014 after learning there were many things that would have to be completed before receiving any of these things the "Southern Comfort Lounge" was forced to close it's doors. The process is normally pretty lengthy (2-3 months), but due to a lack of knowledge, big egos and many other things it has been almost 2 years. By January 15, 2015 the "Southern Comfort Lounge" was renamed "Bill's Southern Comfort Lounge" (not by choice). Now as of May 2016 Bill's Southern Comfort Lounge is solely owned by Beth. Once I became the sole owner I started the process to get the permits/licenses. It started really good, but just after receiving the Occupational License everything was stalled once again. Since the business was closed over 6 months the zoning changed. Which meant we'd have to be a bar/restaurant but more restaurant (60%) than bar (40%). In order to have this changed the owner of the property has to pay a fee and go through the steps for a re-zoning hearing. Of course this is also a long process. November 3, 2016 was the 1st of many meetings. the last (hopefully) meeting will be in December 2016. After this meeting we should know if we will be able to open the doors again as a bar. If we get approved I will continue steps for obtaining the permits/licenses. Unfortunately I am unsure if I will have to start all over because most of the things you have to apply for or obtain are only good for 90 days? I am hoping to open the doors again the beginning of 2017. Once we are open and back on track I will look into changing the name of the bar since "Bill" in no longer an owner. I am looking forward to opening up again and seeing some old friends and making many new ones. We need all the support possible! Thank you!
