Passion and community drive two such small businesses. Distinctive Gardens and Art & Soul Café [former Ginkgo Tree Café] are motivated by passions for plants, people and food. Now they team up to offer a combined experience unlike any in the Sauk Valley.

Earlier this year, co-owners of the former Ginkgo Tree Café, Laura Santos and Jessica Lopez learned the landlord would not renew their cafe lease. For years they had been developing signature recipes and building a loyal customer base. They were determined to keep going. So they set out to find a new location. During, Santos stopped in at Distinctive Gardens. She consigns work there. Conversation between her and co-owner, Lisa Higby LeFevre sparked. A new idea was born.
