Come to the Ansel S. Gurney House for a unique shopping and dining experience. In a picturesque country setting stands the historic house, the oldest part dating back to the 1700's. The house became a haven of warmth and hospitality in the 1800's when it was used as a stagecoach stop and tavern. The Gunschel family purchased the house in the 1930's, and, in 1976, after raising three sons here, the Gunschel's opened their home as a gift shop and restaurant. Over the years the gift shop expanded throughout the house including all eleven rooms, each with a different theme. The business is run today by the youngest son Jon and his wife Debbie, who carry on the tradition of warmth and hospitality begun here over 200 years ago.
Please join us for lunch in Ansel's Cafe offering a warm fire in winter, screened porch in spring and summer or an ever-changing garden view anytime of the year. As always you are welcome to stroll through our extensive gardens that surround the house.
