The University of South Carolina in Columbia was founded in 1801. The Harper's Restaurant Group which has been a part of Columbia in 5 Points since 1990, with it Harper’s Restaurant, is honoring the university’s rich history with our new 1801 GRILLE. In collaboration with the University, it's alumni, and its current faculty and student body, we have conceived a restaurant that is a gathering place for everyone. Harper’s in 5 Points was one of the originators of accessible American farm to table polished casual contemporary cuisine and 1801 continues to carry on that tradition. 1801 GRILLE is a great place to relax and enjoy a chef driven meal from local ingredients and share that meal with old friends, new friends, and family. 1801 GRILLE embraces all that is USC, that is Columbia, and that embodies the warm hospitality of South Carolina. It is a restaurant whose executive chef Jason Bruner, works with local and regional southern food ways every day. 1801 has brought together the best that Columbia has to offer in hospitality and great food and immediately enhances USC’s and Columbia’s dining and professional catering. 1801 GRILLE is imagined as the best of and American tavern, the type tavern that has been welcoming locals and travelers since before 1801 in Columbia.
