In 1993, Guinness UDV bought Desnoes and Geddes, but four years later, owing to a subsequent merger with Grand Metropolitan, the international drinks giant Diageo became the ultimate parent company. Their immediate goal was to boost profits. One creative move was to rename the company Red Stripe, after its flagship beer.
