Originally named “The Royal Oak”, the hotel was established in 1864, to cater to the needs of the miners at the nearby Black Hill mine. Much smaller when first built, several additions have seen it reach its current size and format.
The name “Black Hill Hotel” was adopted around the 1960s.
The Black Hill Hotel is proud to be "the local" for people in and around the neighbourhood and welcomes guests from across Ballarat and the wider world.
