BIJA was always more about people than chocolate.We knew we needed to do something different, to bypass the massive cacao distributors and go directly to the source. So we created direct trade partnerships with an very select group of women's cooperatives and cacao farmers in the Dominican Republic and Peru. Our farmers carefully nurture and harvest their organic cacao — producing the most complex, distinctively flavored bean-to-bar chocolate in the world.
