Rosnay was established by the Statham family at Canowindra, NSW, in 1996, and since 2000 the farm has been a source of many fine organic wines and olive products. Richard and Florence Statham began the project in 1995, and when they found the property in 1996 they named it Rosnay, after Florence's grandfather, Alberic Dulong de Rosnay, who had a vineyard in the French Beaujolais. Florence is an artist, and her passion for art has rubbed off not only on her children but also on the business.
Established in 1910, the Royal Hotel Canowindra is built on the site of Robinson's Hotel which was established in the early 1850s. The pub became famous in 1863 when bushranger Ben Hall and his gang held the towns folk hostage inside the pub.
