The Wheatsheaf Inn is an Isle of Wight Pub owned by Kathryn & Shaun Rayner and run by them & their daughter Shannon. Before buying the Wheatsheaf in March 2009, Kathryn was the manager for 5 years and Shaun was the catering manager for the company that ran the Wheatsheaf for almost 10 years. Shaun now runs the kitchen side of the business with over 28 years of experience in the industry. His experience ranges from catering for restaurants and pubs, to outdoor catering.
Having cooked at prestigious events such as The Chealsea Flower Show, Wimbledon, The Farnborough Air Show and at Buckingham Palace, the food he produces is of the utmost quality. Shaun also spent 11 years teaching Catering & Hospitality at the Isle of Wight College. As such, he actively takes an interest in the further training of staff members through regular training courses.
Kathryn has been a Catering Manager and a Chef on and off for 20 years in between bringing up a family of two girls. Shannon, the younger of the two daughters, has been working at The Wheatsheaf for 5 and a half years and is currently taking a management course alongside her work.
The Wheatsheaf Inn is a supporter of the Yarmouth & Calbourne football club and is one of their sponsors.
Kathryn & Shauns philosophy is good quality food at a fair price to the consumer and to provide a friendly and welcoming family atmosphere. The interest in the The Wheatseaf Inn has taken rise to Fat Shauns outdoor catering, providing BBQ’s & buffets for events, but their speciality is Hog Roasts
