SITUATED in the quaint, cobblestoned surroundings of Newmarket Street in the heart of Ayr the Wee Windaes is a traditional pub with an atmosphere second to none.

Family run, you will feel welcome from the moment you arrive until you leave and its reputation is such that many visitors to the town keep returning to the 'wee pub with the friendly staff.'

And such is its popularity with one Scottish celebrity that the Wee Windaes is regularly mentioned in Tam Cowan's popular column in the Daily Record.

So went the lyrics of a very popular 60s song...well look through the Wee Windaes in Newmarket Street, Ayr and you'll see a lovely pub where a warm welcome always awaits.

Jim McSherry and his family took over the well known hostelry in 2003 and since then have built an admirable reputation for serving good fine, excellent wines, beers and spirits and more importantly for doing so in a friendly manner.

The biggest testimony to a well run welcoming pub is its regulars. Well its fair to say the Wee Windaes has an array of customers from all walks of life who share a passion for wanting to enjoy a relaxing meal, pint or a glass of their favourite tipple in good company.

And visitors to Ayr just love the ambience of 9 Newmarket Street too. Situated in a cobbled street that runs between the busy Sandgate and the bustling High Street it truly is a haven where you can take a break from a shopping trip or just chill in pleasant surroundings.

The walls are adorned with some stunning photographs of footballers from bygone days and classic movie stars and again many a conversation is sparked by these images.

The chat is always good in the Wee Windaes and for those who pop in on a Friday evening after a busy week at work the pictorial quiz passed out to customers can be a real brain teaser !

Meals are served between noon and 3 pm Monday to Saturday and the menu offers a large variety of dishes to suit most tastes. There's a great value 2 course Special menu, which changes daily, at only £6.95.

There are various special functions that regulars enjoy over the course of the year and coming soon is an open mic night reflecting yet more diversity for the pub described by Tam Cowan as a 'great wee boozer'.

There are many pubs and restuarants in Ayr but there's only one Wee Windaes why don't you call in the next time you're in town..

Traditional pub meals served daily at lunchtime, 12-3pm, 2 course special menu, changes daily, only £6.95 for great home cooked meals. Tam Cowan from the Daily Record has hailed us in The Daily Record as having the best homemade steak pie ever!!

Friday Afternoon Club - relax after a hard week at the office, free bar snacks, busy yet chilled atmosphere, great fun.
