The family and I, were jus' hangin' around Acadia one mornin' when they asked me-where can we go when we're in the mood for some great, down east cookin', local fun, and prices that won't soak the boat? We mean casual and friendly surroundings inside and out, a place where all ages are welcome and come-as-we-are!
Well, I had it! I knew the answer to this one-let's get goin' to THE TAN TURTLE TAVERN!
We're located at 10 Huntington Dr., Northeast Harbor, Maine near the fabulous Kimball Terrace Inn overlooking the scenic harbor and marina.
This family oriented restaurant is on beautiful Mount Desert Island in Maine. We are surrounded by Acadia National Park and located on the “quiet side” of the island, in the village of Northeast Harbor. We are attached to the Kimball Terrace Inn and are the only eatery / motel in the marina. The view of the harbor and mountains are spectacular. Seating of up to 260 people is available inside and outside on the pet-friendly deck, weather permitting. Parking is available on the Huntington Rd side of the restaurant, which is handicapped accessible. An even larger parking lot is located on the marina side, where the Island Explorer Bus stop is also located.
Come as you are before or after a long day of hiking, boating and sight-seeing. Or come for that special occasion to celebrate events like birthdays and anniversaries. We offer breakfast, lunch, dinner, and a full-service bar. We pride ourselves with offering large portions.
So come, relax and be prepared to eat.
