An Historic past......

Our pub stands on the site of a medieval manor house that was lavishly rebuilt in 1765 as a most desirable residence. Henry Scarbrough took the property in 1826, at which point it became the Kings Arms. In the late 1890s, Fred Wood established The Scarbrough Hotel pub. He organised talent nights here and any act showing promise was put on at his City Varieties. Thus the name Scarbrough Hotel is taken as an ode the Henry Scarbrough. The nickname of "The Taps" refers to the old Tap room out back where guests regularly enjoyed "Tasting Sessions" that lasts well beyond the trade hours of the time. Its a shame we cant get away with such acts nowadays....

Modern History......

Now the venue takes pride of place under the Nicholsons' brand for Mitchells and Butlers. Keeping up the traditions of Amazing food, fantastic beverages and second to none customer service. When you enter The Scarbrough the hardest decision can be what to drink, with up to ten real ales to sample and a fine selection of single-malt whiskeys. A menu which takes the best of British and adds in a few snippets of continental flair. The Scarbrough has a long and continuing affiliation with Leeds United and its supporters, before the home games the place is turned a sea of white with supporters groups from all corners of the world holding court.
