We are a Restaurant/Coffee shop and Bed & Breakfast situated in the port town of Moyogalpa, Isla de Ometepe, Nicaragua.
Our menu reflects the abundance of fresh fruits and vegetables available to us on the island and changes with the seasons. The coffee beans come from Las Cuchillas, the honey from Balgue, fresh basil, eggplant, coconuts, citrus fruits, mangoes and tomatoes from Moyogalpa and cacao from various farmers on Maderas.
We serve espresso coffee made with a manual, gas powered Gaggia machine using coffee beans roasted in the traditional way, in a clay pot over an open fire, 1 pound at a time. The result is a smoky, dark roast with a rich flavour that makes a beautiful espresso or cappuccino.
We have been expanding our baked goods offerings with Carrot Cake, Island Cacao Brownies, Molasses Spice Cookies, Ginger Cake with Passionfruit Icing, and Cranberry Orange Scones.
We have 4 beautiful rooms open for travellers looking for a bit of luxury and a fresh breakfast in the morning. Our rooms use natural materials from the island including red adobe bricks, guanacaste wood and reclaimed windows and doors from the buildings original construction.
This project has been a labour of love and the building still needs a lot more of it! Further plans include moving the kitchen, opening up the corner area for more restaurant seating a bar area and creating an evening menu.
