The Allan Ramsay dates from 1792 and is one of Scotland's oldest coaching inns.

The Allan Ramsay is located in the quaint village of Carlops and is nestled at the foot of the Pentland Hills, on the main A702 Edinburgh Road around 12 miles from Edinburgh.
It is named in honour of the Scots poet Allan Ramsay who published many Scots poetry and songs.
The inn has a modest exterior with a warm and welcoming interior which reflects its 18th Century character - antique decorations, a small library, candle-lit restaurant and real log fires. It has 4 comfortable guest rooms upstairs which offer the option of single, double, twin and family occupancy.
