A restaurant built beside a hill nestled in a scenic garden that caters and serves the best Filipino Cuisine and wide array of dishes since 1990.
It was in April 1990 that we opened Hillside Restaurant (this was our former name which up to this date is what locals usually call us). Our place is located in a half hectare property formerly rented by the Department Of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry.
When it's contract ended, the administrator of the property (Tio Pepe) was thinking what will be done with the place. Jokingly I said "let's open it as a meal stop to buses plying the Manila-Bicol route and immediately after that day, the construction and renovation started.
A native hall was built and what was left by the former occupants was also renovated. Being the first of its kind in our town (Labo) people were excited to know what was it all about.
Without a real formal concept of what it should really be, we ended up a mix of restaurant, disco, reception, lodging etc.. but it was the beginning that families started eating out in our restaurant and soon weddings, parties, and the likes started to pile up and travelers discovered our place.
Our first original best seller is Fresh Lumpiang Ubod, that one time Ms. Dee dee Sytangco, a journalist wrote in her column that she tasted our recipe far better than the Fresh Lumpia served in a chain of restaurant in Manila.
With the help of my Ima who was a true blooded Kapampangan and with my passion for cooking came our best sellers from our Kapampangan heritage. The Kakanin plus our own version of Pancit Palabok which is a usual sight in most gatherings and parties.
We have added more to our array of food. Our Crispy Pata is a must try plus our own version of Fried Chicken ala Hillside, Crispy Empanada, Pancit sa bilao, our summer Special Halo-halo that melts in your mouth, dessert such as Leche flan and a lot more.
We use only the best ingredients and the freshest available in our markets. We haven't stop improving to satisfy the growing demand of good food in our community. 23 years in business and still counting is our share in the food industry of Camarines Norte.
