After establishing itself as one of Christchurch’s most popular nightspots, Chic Restaurant returned to its roots this summer with a new menu of charcoal-grilled meats, seafood and Persian meals.
The refocusing on Chic famed Persian cuisine comes as the inner-city restaurant expands into the second floor of its Manchester St premises with a chic lounge area and upmarket bar.
Seafood emerges strongly, with blue cod, garlic prawns and salmon taking a leading position alongside a diverse range of Persian kebabs, traditional Persian foods , pita pockets and vegetarian meals.
Long-grain basmati rice, fresh salads and authentic charcoal grilling ensure feasts are as healthy as they as they are satisfying. Many dishes are gluten- and dairy-free or can be tweaked at request.
All sauces are made in-house and no expense has been spared in the pursuit of authenticity, with saffron assuming its rightful place in recipes, where elsewhere it is often neglected due to cost.
Part of what makes Chic so enjoyable, however, is the atmosphere: casual yet upbeat, the restaurant offers diners a choice of indoor and outdoor seating, booths and large tables for groups.
