We are a bar, bistro and brewery in the popular Grandi area by Reykjavík Harbor. Drop by for a tour of our brewery a good meal or just some of our otherworldly beer that we of-course brew on site.
Our building has a historical background. It was built in 1947 for Bæjarútgerd Reykjavíkur (BÚR), a fish processing and shipping company in Reykjavík, first established with the arrival of an innovative trawler, Ingólfur Arnarson, on the 17th of February, 1947.
A few years later, the City Council of Reykjavik agreed to build a freezing plant on the location; and in 1959, a building on the site, originally a freezer and canning factory, was bought and added to the company.
When a fishing company, Ísbjörn (Polar Bear) hf., and the Reykjavík Municipal Association merged with Grandi hf., another large fishing company, on November 13, 1985, the plant was closed at Grandagarður 8; and the house was unoccupied for an extended period.
Today, the building holds the Museum of Maritime History.
